This video is a demonstration of a Tinker Bell Fairy Rig I created (completely from scratch) for the Carnegie Mellon University’s Project TheatAR team as their outsourced technical artist.
Challenges for the rig included:
-Bipedal rig with wings
-Interactable game engine character rig optimized for Augmented Reality (Microsoft Hololens)
-Addressing needs of animation (Fully scalable, wing presets, cloth rigging)
About Project TheatAR:
TheatAR is an exploration project focusing on the use of augmented reality in live performance. In collaboration with the CMU School of Drama, the team adapted an existing story to the stage featuring a fully-realized animated character that performs alongside a human actor. The end result is a short performance piece as proof of concept for AR’s expanding applications in the entertainment industry.
