Welcome to Art Box Workshops First online art class.
I will be teaching you today, how to sketch and draw a Bilby then paint in watercolours and lastly add details using coloured pencils.
Bilby’s are a native Australian marsupial that is found in the desert regions of Australia.
Please watch all of the videos first from start to end so that you have an idea of what you are about to do. The beauty of a video recording is that you can always pause when you need to and replay if you are not sure of the process.
Look at the steps as a guide. I encourage your individual interpretation to shine through in this art class especially when you are working on the composition for the background. For inspiration, you could google search images of desert regions that the Bilby is found and create your own unique landscape composition.
Please take a look at the Bilby art class for the 6 – 8-year-olds first, this could help to give you ideas of different methods of using materials and also a different way to draw your Bilby (facing forward rather than to the side).
Once you have an understanding of how to sketch the Bilby with the images and the drawing process that I will demonstrate in the following video’s. If watercolour isn’t your thing and you prefer to do a tonal pencil drawing. I will be demonstrating the process of a tonal drawing with the Powerful owl that will be available to you on Monday 20th of April. You could apply these techniques of tonal shading with your Bilby.
Please keep your artworks safe once they are finished. I usually keep my artworks in a folder as you may use them in the future as part of your artist portfolio or future exhibitions.
I can’t wait to see what you have created!
