As part of their study of Early Man, fourth graders headed out to Norwood’s archaeological site on a beautiful early fall day for a real excavation. During the fourth-grade Big Dig, everyone took turns serving as chief archaeologist, registrar, digger, and artist. The archaeological teams unearthed some amazing artifacts—fossils, bones, pottery chards, beads, and more. Back in the lab, our excavators carefully cleaned, tagged, classified, and studied their findings. During the next few weeks, they will be looking at how to piece together a story about early history using the clues unearthed during the Big Dig.
