An inner journey through the Camino de Santiago –
photobook mockup.
Photography project made in honor of “Maria” and her best friend:

Dear Maria,

This is how I decided to“baptize” you. So little time together, for such great euphoria, at that moment when we met, listening to you, that I forgot to ask your real name.
What I heard from you that day created crepitations into my thoughts mind that forgetting your words will no longer be possible. The purpose of converting images of the Camino de Santiago into “affection and forgiveness”, was what made me accept your request (omen).
Your quest and the disappointment for not finding these feelings in the form of photography in a book gave me a severe compulsion. Instantly I knew that I had to try to do something: return to the Camino to exhume these images, and whisper (blow) them into “your” book.
Since then, I have crossed (walked) the Camino twice inspired by your words and your search for those images: a “gift” you wanted to give to your best friend who has always been obsessed with the Camino, whom due to life circumstances, never came or would physically go there, because of the illness that slowly was (taking him away) taking his life.
I remember exactly when you said you wanted something other than the ordinary photography tourist guide book (full of maps, images of landscapes, pilgrims and churches). As you mentioned your friend already had them all. You wanted something else, that could move spark his thoughts into the Camino de Santiago like a true pilgrim.
I have never heard your friend’s voice, but during the Camino it somehow echoed, without ceasing inside my mind. Along with the words I had heard from you, they rendered me unconscious to the symbols, signs, temples, traditions that adorn this religious path. It was your desire to mentally transport your friend into the spirituality, the vibrations, the exstasy and the pain of this journey (pilgrimage) that guided my soul and my steps along the way (Camino).
Of all feelings, despite walking through beautiful places(spaces) and the encounter with various pilgrims along the Camino, loneliness was what prevailed. A feeling that transcends the soul, transforms the pain. This imaginary line that rules this pilgrimage creates thoughts, breaks illusions and draws different parallels within the feeling of faith.
While in the Camino we are pulled into a stellar stroke of self-awareness. It is not just about conquering it, it is more about letting it pulse its energy through one’s mind soul.
The way Camino is the concept of one a great journey, of the passage, of a search for oneself, until an intimate revelation, a path over the life consumed. The Camino is for whom there is no impossible way (camino). To make the Camino is to revindicate a possibility for all human beings, a place of discovery and remembrance when it comes to marking our destiny.
Perhaps it’s too late for your friend to materially come across into this book, I needed some time to create this connection(camino), forgive me. I can’t find you either, because I don’t have your direction, I don’t have your phone number, I don’t even have your real name. I hope someday this book finds you along the Camino (way)…
“Don´t be afraid ever. This is just (another) a ride”.

Buen Camino,
