We discuss the strengths both partners bring to their relationship, and the unique challenges of ASD in couple relationships. Conventional relationship strategies may have had limited utility in the past, leading to a sense of hopelessness about the relationship. We share our own discoveries of strategies that have been helpful in our clinical practice.

About the speakers:

Prof. Tony Attwood PhD is an internationally recognised clinical psychologist, educator, and author. Recently featured on ABC’s Australian Story, Tony is one of the world’s foremost authorities on autism. His book Asperger’s Syndrome: A Guide for Parents and Professionals is an international best seller and seminal in the field.

Dr Michelle Garnett PhD is a clinical psychologist and Founder of Minds & Hearts, a clinic specialising in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Michelle has co-authored four books on ASD. Her most recent book with Barb Cook is a seminal work on the female presentation, Spectrum Women: Walking to the Beat of Autism.
She has co-authored three books with Tony on emotion management for children and adolescents.
